Grant Application Instructions

Information about applying to the Fall 2026 grant cycle for the Ahimsa Foundation.

Grants invitations are carefully administered and extended to chosen organizations to create an equitable process for all involved. Please do not share this webpage or information about the application process with individuals outside your organization. If you have not been invited to apply, please do not complete the grant application.

Timeframe

To submit a complete funding application, you must submit the Grant Application through the online grant portal, linked below, along with all required attachments and items.

The final application deadline is Wednesday, August 12, 2026, by 5:00 pm EDT. Applications and materials will NOT be accepted after this date. If your submission is missing the requested items or if something is not presented as we've asked for, you will not have an opportunity to resubmit items. This may cause your application NOT to be considered for funding.

New for this grant cycle, we are offering a preliminary application review deadline of Friday, July 31, 2026, by 5:00 pm EDT. If you submit your materials by this deadline, they will be reviewed and you will be contacted if anything is missing or not presented as we have asked. You will then have until the final application deadline of Wednesday, August 12, 2026, by 5:00 pm EDT to submit updated items. I strongly encourage you to make use of this preliminary review and not wait until the last minute to prepare your application.

I am happy to help answer questions about your application and the submission process. Grant decisions and payments are expected by late November 2026. If you have any questions, please contact Executive Administrator Jen Bonnett at jen@ahimsafoundationboston.org or (857) 248-5007.

The documents below are required for your application to be complete. You will be asked to upload files in the online application at appropriate points. We highly suggest you ensure that your documents include the items on the templates, where applicable, or you use the templates. You can find more details and the templates in the online grant application.

  1. Deed or Lease Agreement - If applicable.
  2. 2026 Organization Budget -  Template available in online application.
  3. 2025 Organization Revenue & Expense Report - Template available in online application.
  4. Governing Board List - Template available in online application.
  5. Adoption Contract/Agreement - If applicable.
  6. 2025 Animal Statistics Worksheet - Worksheet available in online application.

Required: Additional Items

  1. Video Tour -  Please provide a video of the sites where you house/serve animals. If you have a shelter/sanctuary and foster homes, show us both. If you are foster-based only, show two foster homes, ensuring at least one home is someone who is not also a board or staff member. If your organization provides TNVR services, supports feral cat colonies, or offers other direct animal care services, show us the spaces where these services are provided. We prefer that these are NOT professionally created videos but ones that show the realities of the spaces where you serve animals, as well as some of the animals you are serving. No video is required if you do not provide direct services to animals. Please see the online application for more details about video submissions.
  2. Recommendation Form - Please have the recommender complete this short online Recommendation Form OR email a recommendation letter by the August 12 due date. You will be notified when the recommendation for your organization has been received. Please see the online application for details about submitting recommendations.
  3. Grant Impact Report - If you received a grant in 2025, you will receive an email notification to complete this report in the online grant portal. It is also due by August 12, and will be considered as part of your application packet.

Please do not hesitate to contact Jen for assistance.
